Post-Class Options
We believe managing
long-term illness is an ongoing challenge, in which support from others
can be of great help. After you complete the CFIDS/Fibromyalgia
Self-Help course, you can pursue a self-help approach with us in one or
more of the three following ways. The second and third are free.
1) Repeat the Course
Many people take the course more than
once. The course
is offered in January, April, June and September. The cost to retake the
class is $20. Please see our online registration page
or mail
registration page
for instructions. In both cases look for the
last option that begins with: "Already have the book?"
2) Join an Alumni Group
We offer free, open-ended alumni groups for people who
have completed our self-help course. Each operates like the class, but
is less intense. Instead of weekly lessons, the group has one round of
emails per month. In the first week of the month, we send out an email
with a discussion topic, something related to self-management of chronic
illness. People respond by posting a response to the topic. We also
invite people to ask the group for ideas on how to solve problems they
are facing. To sign up for the alumni group, write
to us.
3) Take Our "Target
Setting" Course
Four times a year we offer a second course, which is
open to graduates of the introductory course and which is free. This
class, which is also offered in January, April, June and September,
lasts about a month and a half and focuses on offering support for
achieving short-term goals. The heart of the course is each person’s stating
a weekly target for her/himself. We also have discussion on topics
raised by group members. To sign up, write
to us.
